Jess joined the Workforce Resilience team in 2023, following a fifteen-year policing career as a sworn officer in the Queensland Police Service. Jess worked predominately in general duties (first response) policing roles, in addition to developing expertise in community crime prevention, where she worked to develop and implement socially aligned strategies to build relationships, protect neighbourhoods, and reduce crime.
Jess believed that she could achieve the most effective outcomes in her role as a police officer through an empathetic, respectful and kind approach, and as such, she applied for, and was accepted to become a Police Negotiator. Over the last ten years, Jess has operated in tense, highly emotional, and often dangerous working environments, where she has honed her specialist communication skills to become a highly qualified conflict and de-escalation communicator.
Jess now puts her excellent communications skills to use, working with Workforce Resilience clients, to train their team members to become more effective at dealing with conflict in the workplace, deescalating potentially volatile situations, and using common sense approaches to avoid aggression and violence.
